WOMAN

Bedtime Stories With Netflix Jr.

ADA

“Ada Twist, Scientist: Tooth Fairy Bells.”

EXT. ADA’S HOUSE - DAY

The doorbell rings.

ROSIE

Come on, come on, come on.

The two more times.

IGGY

I can’t believe she lost one!

ADA opens the door to see IGGY and ROSIE with their backpacks and sleeping bags.

ADA

Iggy! Rosie! Come in.

Iggy and Rosie come inside and she the door. Iggy and Rosie plop their backpacks down.

ROSIE

You had me at ‘Lost tooth’ and ‘Sleepover.’ So, where is it?

IGGY

I don’t wanna see it ’cause it’s scary. But I do wanna see it... for science.

ADA

C’mon, it’s in my room.

The door to Ada’s room.

ADA

Here it is.

We hear the of paper as Ada unwraps it.

IGGY

Wooow!

ROSIE

Boy, when teeth are not in your mouth, they sure look funny.

Iggy is horrified.

IGGY

It looks like a shiny white rock...with legs.

(then)

Wait... Does this mean you’re gonna be toothless forever? I mean, we’d still love you, of course, but it would take some getting used to.

They debate about the Tooth Fairy.

ROSIE

Everybody knows you only stay toothless if the Tooth Fairy doesn’t come to take your tooth and replace it with a shiny golden one.

ADA

Yeah, and everybody says the Tooth Fairy comes when you’re sleeping. And she takes the tooth and leaves a gift. But...I don’t know.

IGGY

I heard she’s a mouse. Uck.

ROSIE

Huh. I haven’t heard that one. But even if she is a mouse, she’s still a fairy. Which means... delightful.

ADA

This brings me to why I called you over for this sleepover. If the Tooth Fairy exists, I wanna meet her. I have SO MANY questions.

ROSIE

Of course she exists, Ada. You’ve got to believe to see.

ADA

I’m a scientist. I need evidence.

So... there’s only one thing to do - meet the Tooth Fairy.

IGGY

But how can we meet her if she comes in the middle of the night?

ROSIE

Yeah, the Tooth Fairy is so sneaky. They have to get in and out of places without anyone seeing them.

IGGY

Mice are sneaky.

ROSIE

I really don’t think the Tooth Fairy is a mouse, Iggy.

ADA

We need to sneak in some ideas. In a brainstorm.

Ada jumps up with an idea.

ADA

I have an idea! We’ll ask a rooster to crow when the Tooth Fairy comes, so if we fall asleep, it’ll wake us up.

We hear .

ROSIE

But I think roosters only work in the morning.

ADA

Oh, true. And by then the Tooth Fairy will already be gone.

ROSIE

Got it! We can ask owls to wake us up.

We hear owls .

ROSIE

They stay awake all night. Plus their heads can spin all the way around, so the tooth fairy won’t get past them.

IGGY

But I thought owls didn’t take orders from humans.

ROSIE

And it’s one of the few animal languages I can’t speak.

IGGY

I know! Big Ben is a clock tower in England with a super loud bell. Maybe we could borrow that to chime for us when she arrives.

Big Ben .

ADA

But Big Ben could scare the Tooth Fairy away ‘cause it’s so loud.

IGGY/ROSIE

Hm. Good point./Yeah, I didn’t think of that.

ADA

But that gives me an idea. We could make something with bells, but more fairy-friendly than Big Ben to wake us up when the Tooth Fairy comes.

ROSIE

Tooth Fairies LOVE bells and chimes. We can call it a Fairy Time Chime!

IGGY

Yes, yes, yes!

ADA

Let’s do it. Loading the lab.

The .

ROSIE

Let’s see... according to my research, the Tooth Fairy is teeny, she love bells and chimes, and she use fairy dust to keep kids asleep.

ADA

I think we have some fairy precise calculations.

ROSIE

I see what you did there.

IGGY

I’ll draw a blueprint of the design.

We hear the sound of Iggy’s blueprint paper being unrolled, then . Then...

IGGY

Aaand... the design’s done!

ADA

Aww, it’s so tiny!

ROSIE

And you included a fan to stop the fairy dust. Genius!

IGGY

Yup. The fairy dust deflector.

ROSIE

Okay, so all we need to build it are bells, mint floss, old harp strings, wind chimes, and a fan.

ADA

Let’s get supplies!

They run around the lab, gathering supplies. We hear cabinets and drawers then a pleasant combination of bells and chimes as they put the supplies down on the lab table.

ADA/IGGY/ROSIE

Got bells and a fan./Here come the chimes!/Floss and strings, incoming!

ROSIE

Let’s build it.

We hear then...

ROSIE

Voila! The Fairy Time Chime is built!

ADA/IGGY

It’s tiny./And chimey.

ADA

Let’s go test it in my room.

The lab and they are back in Ada’s bedroom.

ROSIE

Okay. I’ll climb through the window and pretend to be the tooth fairy.

The window opening sets off a chain reaction of chimes (wind chimes, harp strings, bells).

ROSIE

(as the Tooth Fairy)

I am the Tooth Fairy and I’m magically flying through your window. Diddly-dee-diddly-doo.

ADA/IGGY

.

ROSIE

Oh what delightful bells. Diddly-doo-diddly-dee. Oh no, the bells are waking up the kids. But I’ve got a solution. My fairy dust will keep them asleep so they won’t wake up.

IGGY

But our fairy dust fan blows it away.

ROSIE

Oh dearie me. A fairy dust fan?

Ada pretends to wake up.

ADA

(exaggerated yawn)

Tooth Fairy? It’s so nice to meet you.

ROSIE

Oh no! They woke up! I’ve been out-smarted. Diddly-dee-doo. Nice to meet you too.

ADA/IGGY/ROSIE

ADA

Looks like the Fairy Time Chime works. Well, let’s go to sleep. ‘Night.

ROSIE/IGGY

Sweet dreams./ Goodnight.

We hear the sound of and in a beat they’re asleep. A takes us into Ada’s dream.

EXT. FOGGY DOCK - DUSK

Ada appears on a foggy dock. We hear the sounds of and .

ADA

Whoa, this dock is windy and foggy.

ROSIE

When’s the boat to Tooth Fairy Island coming?

IGGY

I hope I don’t get boat sick.

ADA

Iggy, Rosie, what’re you doing in my dream?

IGGY

We’re going to Tooth Fairy Island with you.

Just then, through the fog, we hear a .

ROSIE

Look! The boat! It’s the Tooth Fairy Ferry! . I can see the island through the fog.

The ferry pulls into the dock and A TOOTH TROLL appears.

TOOTH TROLL

Tooth o’clock ferry traveling to Tooth Fairy Island. All aboard. Tooooth! Tooooth!

ROSIE

Woooow... the ferry’s captain is a tooth troll. Awesome!

Ada steps up to the troll.

ADA

Hello, um... Tooth Troll. I lost a tooth today.

The Troll sounds like a gravelly-voiced New Yorker.

TOOTH TROLL

Aww, well congratulations. S’pose you want to know who your Tooth Fairy is, uh? Let’s see here...checking my notes. Ah, it’s Delores.

IGGY

Wait...There’s more than one Tooth Fairy? Mind. Blown.

TOOTH TROLL

Sure. How do you think they get to all the kids around the world?

ADA/ROSIE

Makes sense!/Good point.

ROSIE

C’mon, Tooth Troll. Let’s get this show on the water! I have to prove to Ada that the Tooth Fairy’s real.

As they go to board the ferry, the Tooth Troll stops them.

TOOTH TROLL

Oh, she’s real all right. But you can’t go to Tooth Fairy Island without proving you’re up on your Tooth Fairy knowledge.

IGGY

A test? I didn’t study.

ADA

Don’t worry, Iggy. We’ve got this. So, what do we do Mr. Tooth Troll?

TOOTH TROLL

Answer one question and you can board. It’s harder than it seems. Most kids get tripped up on this one.

ADA/IGGY/ROSIE

Okay./I’m nervous./Let’s go!

TOOTH TROLL

Okay, fairy-testants. Playing for a chance to meet the Tooth Fairy.

What small animal does the Tooth Fairy sometimes appear as?

IGGY

Oooh, I know this one. Is it... a mouse?

TOOTH TROLL

That is...correct!

TOOTH TROLL

Congratulations, you can take the Tooth Fairy Ferry to Tooth Fairy Island!

ADA/IGGY/ROSIE

YAY!/ Oh gosh, oh gosh, oh wow!/ Yee-haw!

IGGY

Wait, so she’s a mouse?

ADA

That’s true?

IGGY

I’m not sure I wanna meet her now.

TOOTH TROLL

Oh no, Delores isn’t. But the mousy tooth fairies that are, are delightful.

ROSIE

See? Told you.

IGGY

Phew...

TOOTH TROLL

You’d better hurry if you wanna catch her before her nightly rounds.

ADA/IGGY/ROSIE

C’mon!/Let’s go!/Hurry hurry hurry!

The boat as they board.

TOOTH TROLL

Next stop, Tooth Fairy Island. All aboard. Tooooth! Tooooth!

The ferry takes off and as they ride we hear a . , and . Just then, they glide into the dock as dusk is getting closer to night.

ADA

We’re here! And it’s almost nighttime. We’ve gotta hurry. Bye Tooth Troll.

TOOTH TROLL

Don’t forget to floss. Tooooth! Tooooth!

We hear their as they run off toward the tower. They try the door. It’s locked.

ADA

Oh no! The Tooth Tower is locked!

We came all the way here. We can’t miss the Tooth Fairy. Maybe she’s not real and this is all a big trick.

ROSIE

Just wait. I have an idea.

Rosie pulls a couple chimes out of her pocket (leftover from building the Fairy Time chime).

ROSIE

Look! I have leftover chimes from building the Fairy Time Chime. I’ll engineer a portable chime. That’ll attract the Tooth Fairy for sure.

We hear the sounds of them MacGyver’ing a portable chime followed shortly by the of little wings.

IGGY

Guys... it’s working!

ADA

It’s... a lot of Tooth Fairies... coming this way.

IGGY

So, how’re we gonna find Ada’s?

Rosie steps forward.

ROSIE

Delores?? Is Delores here??

IGGY

Oh, heh-heh. Guess that’s a good way to find her.

A Tooth Fairy flies forward. She’s high-pitched and quirky (think Kristen Chenoweth).

DELORES

Hellooo there, I’m Delores.

IGGY/ROSIE

ADA

Wow... you’re really real?!

DELORES

Well of course I am darling. As real as dewdrops on flower petals at daybreak. .

ADA

I’m Ada--

DELORES

Twist. I’m on my way to see you tonight. But you’re here. Wait... why are you here? How? Did you get the question right?

ADA/IGGY/ROSIE

Yeah!

DELORES

I am impressed. Well I can check you off my list then. Excuse me dears, don’t want to be rude. Just need to call dispatch on my fairy walkie-talkie.

ADA/IGGY/ROSIE

No problem./Sure./Totally Get it.

She takes out a fairy walkie talkie.

DELORES

Dispatch, this is Delores. Please strike Ada Twist off my list. The little darling and her friends are here!

(beat for Dispatch response)

I know. Isn’t it marvelous?

IGGY

Miss Tooth Fairy ma’am... I’m really happy you’re not a mouse.

ADA

Miss Delores, we’re so excited to meet you. Um, I have a lot of questions.

DELORES

Ask me whatever you like. I have a little time before my rounds.

They walk (and fly) and talk.

ADA

So, why do baby teeth fall out? Where does the new tooth come from? What happens to the old tooth when the Tooth Fairy takes it?

ROSIE

Why do you have to brush before bed?

IGGY

Is flossing really that important?

DELORES

I’ll tell you what, I will answer all your questions ...in a poem.

Delores recites a POEM.

DELORES

Baby teeth, like little pearls

Fall from mouths of boys and girls

All those baby teeth have to go

So big grown-up teeth can grow

The tooth fairy takes the tooth and leaves a gift

There’s so many teeth, we work in shifts

We take teeth very seriously

They don’t just disappear mysteriously

Mouths have all kinds of teeth

They grow up top and underneath

Molars, canines, and incisors

Erupt from your gums like geysers

You have to brush them twice a day

If you don’t, they will decay

Food gets stuck when you take your little bites

Flossing gets ick between pearly whites

Now go to sleep there’ll be a present for you

Ada Twist, Scientist and her questioning crew

POEM ENDS.

DELORES

Now, I’ll take that tooth and get you home with a wave of my wand.

ADA

(sleepy)

Okay. Here you go.

Ada reaches into her pocket, her tooth, and hands it to the Tooth Fairy. The Tooth Fairy waves her wand and conjures up three tooth-shaped cloud pillows.

ADA

(amazed)

Whoa. Tooth-shaped fluffy cloud pillows.

DELORES

It was lovely to meet you. Off you go. Toodle-loo.

ADA/IGGY/ROSIE

(sleepy)

Bye Delores./Buh-bye./See ya.

Delores flies off as the sun sets and the moon rises.

ADA/IGGY/ROSIE

So soft and sparkly./Comfy./Smells like cotton candy-- ...yum.

They fall asleep.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. ADA’S HOUSE/ADA’S BEDROOM - ALMOST DAWN

It’s still dark as Ada opens her eyes, still sleepy.

ADA

Did we miss the Tooth Fairy?

IGGY

Did she come?

ROSIE

Look under your pillow Ada.

Ada looks under her pillow.

ADA

My tooth. It’s gone. And look, here’s a golden tooth.

The golden tooth sparkles in the light.

ROSIE

Maybe she did come. Do you believe she’s real now, Ada?

IGGY

I know I do.

ADA

Yeah, I think so.

Just then, we see Delores, tiny, just outside. With a wave of her wand, she waves fairy dust over the kids.

ROSIE

I don’t know if I’m really sleepy or-- -- but I see sparkles.

ADA/IGGY

Me too./Me three.

ADA

Goodnight. Sleep tight.

The kids as we...

FADE OUT. THE END.
